Lara Black


With an accumulated 24 years of media, marketing and branded content experience behind her, Lara has consulted to a number of leading national and multinational brands on marketing, sponsorship and commercial strategies.

A qualified journalist and marketing specialist, Lara worked within the Publishing sector for seven years including Independent Newspapers, UpperCase Media, Media 24, and was Associate Publisher on National Geographic Traveller, National Geographic Kids, and National Geographic Little Kids magazines. Before entering the Branded Entertainment TV industry, Lara held the position of Media Director for sports marketing specialists, Octagon and was responsible for the media and marketing delivery on a number of leading national sports and lifestyle properties. Lara joined Cooked in Africa Films in 2011 to head up the company’s Marketing and Sponsorship division, establishing and developing the company’s Commercial and Marketing model to underpin the company’s flagship Advertiser-Funder reality TV property, “Ultimate Braai Master” (Seasons 1, 2 and 3)

Between 2012 and 2014, Lara managed the multiple-sponsor Funding Model and Stakeholder Management portfolio for the Property, negotiating a partnership with digital publishing and online services group, for the development of a bespoke, integrated digital solution for the third season of “Ultimate Braai Master” that was underpinned by the stable of lifestyle brands for cross pollination of content throughout the Series.

Lara joined Okuhle Media in October 2014 to head up the company’s Commercial Division, providing an integrated branded content, media and marketing solution to clients and partners.
