Showville

SYNOPSIS

Everybody dreams of becoming a star and basking in their fifteen minutes of fame. Showville makes dreams a reality by taking the glitzy TV industry to the small, remote and overlooked dorpies, knowing that every town has a story and every town has a star.

The series centres on small town talent shows where breath-taking “OMG” moments impress, and the riveting but expected cringe worthy yet comedic auditions entertain. Showville gives regular towns’ folk a chance to be the big fish in the little pond of their hometown!

Each self-contained one-hour episode in the series sees Showville touching down in another quintessentially small South African dorpie where it holds open call auditions, welcoming everyone from singers and dancers to comedy acts and jugglers – putting together a talent show in a mere four days.

Two instantly recognisable and prominent TV stars will host the series, audition the talent and act as mentors. Post auditions they select four finalists to participate in a talent show held at a local venue. The audience gets to know the finalists, their back-stories and what they would do with the cash prize and infamy as these mentors coach them over multiple days.

The goal is to bring out the best of their abilities in preparing them for their performance at a “Big Show” in front of a local audience who then select the winner by public vote.
